Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day 2025 at the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam with the event series “Dream 4.0 - A Ticket Back to Childhood”
In the spirit of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day on April 21, the Library Department, the Department of Science, Information and Inteational Studies, in collaboration with Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam’s Book Club, organized the event series “Dream 4.0 - A Ticket Back to Childhood”, held from April 14 to April 19, 2025. The series of events has connected generations, inspiring traditional cultural values through children’s literary works and folk games. This is an opportunity for young people to lea about, experience, and revisit childhood memories, and at the same time honor the role of their generation in preserving and promoting cultural values.
Inspired by the book “Give Me a Ticket to Childhood” by author Nguyen Nhat Anh, the “Dream 4.0 - A Ticket Back to Childhood” series took place with two main activities: the Festival “Ô ăn quan - Ô văn hóa” (a traditional game festival) and the Talkshow “Touching Literature - Enlivening of Culture” . The Festival “Ô ăn quan - Ô văn hóa” recorded the enthusiastic participation of a large number of students, staff and lecturers of the Academy, besides the Talk show "Touching literature - Enlivening of culture" also attracted the attention of more than 200 students.

“Touching Literature - Enlivening Culture”
The Festival “Ô ăn quan - Ô văn hóa” was held from April 14th to 18th, featuring the “Our Childhood” book exhibition and folk game experience activities.

The “Our Childhood” book exhibition not only provided an opportunity to retu to childhood through children's literature but also encouraged the spirit of reading, creating motivation for the younger generation to lea more about Vietnamese folk culture and history.

In addition, the exhibition featured engaging activities such as answering quizzes via question cards, combine couplets or write guest books to save the thoughts and feelings of students.

Activities at the Festival “Ô ăn quan - Ô văn hóa”
In the folk games experience area, students could participate in playing “ô ăn quan” (Mandarin Square Capturing), “rải ranh” (scattering seeds), etc. These are all familiar folk games to many young Vietnamese people.

In addition, the Talkshow “Touching Literature - Enlivening Culture” took place with the participation of two speakers: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Thach and writer Nguyen Truong Quy.

“Touching Literature - Enlivening Culture”
The Talkshow “Touching Literature - Enlivening Culture” was held on April 19, 2025, in Hall A, Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam. Featuring two main topics: “Folk Culture - A Key to Nurturing the Souls of Children” and “Folk Culture - A Foundation for Contemporary Creations”, the two speakers shared practical perspectives on how folk literature permeates literature, from becoming creative material to its role in nurturing the soul and inspiring creativity. Simultaneously, the Talkshow also discussed how to approach and study culture through books, as well as how mode authors can integrate and promote folk values in their works.
